Yes I believe HG Wells was psychic and used astral projection to see into the most probable future in this timeline. The time machine is a very depressing vision of the future, but the most probable at this point. I would prefer an asteroid to knock the planet into the sun than the planet die a slow horrible death. I could not imagine reincarnating endlessly in a hopeless slowly dying world as described in Wells vision.
