The Apparition movie flops due to only 800 locations

The Apparition movie touched on a cool premise. However, the writer/director executed the supernatural movie so poorly that it seemed the movie distributor lost confidence to reduce the locations. A few months ago, most movie websites predicted The Apparition movie would make $14 million in the first weekend.

Two months later, The Apparition hit the movie theaters without a private screening for movie critics. Most movie outlets are giving The Apparition the lowest score we've never seen. Rotten Tomatoes scored the movie with 3%. Several movie websites gave the movie an F.

I didn't think the movie was that bad. Nonetheless, the movie never featured any real scares. The writer/director Todd Lincoln executed the movie like a film school project. He has no real mainstream experience. His last movie project is a 2002 short film.

The rookie filmmaker had a hand in previous projects prior to his 2002 short film. In The Apparition, Lincoln wasted too much time trying to establish Ben and Kelly's relationship that he never delved in parapsychology. Do we really need all that exposition to explain the origin of the apparition?

How come Paranormal Activity movies perform well? Their movies focus on the premise. We know a malicious entity will haunt the house. The Apparition disappointed me with poor execution, albeit Ashley Greene saved the movie.

No movie can compete to win the box office weekend with 800 locations. There is something definitely bad going on to pull the movie out of so many locations. This supernatural movie had a shot at winning the weekend box office. Initial projection of $32 million for The Apparition's total box office ticket sales is long gone. The Apparition will be lucky to make $5 million. It will take increasing movie locations to boost the domestic box office numbers up to $20+ million.

The Apparition will disappear into a ghostly spirit soon. You will quickly forget The Apparition existed. Poor movie marketing and lack of movie locations doomed The Apparition. An amateur director/writer needs to read screenwriting books again to understand story structure and good screenwriting techniques.
