Judy Garland adored her fans with playing Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz movie. The classic Hollywood musical is one of the most popular movies of all time. We never get tired of watching Dorothy singing and skipping along the yellow brick road with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and her dog Toto. The Wizard of Oz is the one of earliest depictions of lucid dreaming in cinema.

The movie opens up with Dorothy performing her day-to-day chores along with her dog Toto. Her parents and her live on a farm in Kansas. An evil woman who owns a good portion of the town wants to take Toto away from Dorothy. Toto escapes the woman, reuniting with his beloved owner Dorothy. All of a sudden a tornado hits the region, causing Dorothy to hit her head in the process. In an astral sense, Dorothy's home is astral projected to land of Oz.

Every character in Oz has some sort of connection with Dorothy's physical world. Dorothy leads the Scarecrow, the Lion and the Tin Man to the Wizard of Oz. When you think about the movie theme, you will notice that Dorothy astral projects to Oz. She controls the astral world through lucid dreaming, although she believes the Oz world as real.

Lucid dreaming occurs when a person realizes they are dreaming while in a dream. They can control the events such as what is depicted in Inception with dream projections. The events portray figments of the mind established in the dream world. Many astral projection fans identify lucid dreaming as another form of astral projection and the out of body experience (OBE). The Wizard of Oz taps into the astral projection/lucid dreaming state of travel.

The Wizard of Oz conveys both astral projection and lucid dreaming. The rigorous demands associated with the physical world create nonstop stress that make us want to escape reality. Thus, The Wizard of Oz movie captures the fantasy world as a colorful place full of happiness.

Though the characters portrayed in Oz have obvious weaknesses, they find end of finding out that their need to compensate with a heart, courage and a brain are unnecessary. We are capable of accomplishing greatness through displaying courage, using critical thinking and with showing compassion.

Astral projection and lucid dreaming illustrate the power of the mind in action, even in a golden age Hollywood movie. Judy Garland's youthfulness and beauty add color to the wonderful Oz pastel. You have the power to astral project to Oz to experience a fantasy world. Life is only as successful as you make it. The Wizard of Oz movie explores the dream world to show us that we can all live our dreams.
