Can we astral project to the past to fix past traumatic experiences: The Butterfly Effect illusion

In Ashton Kutcher's The Buttery Effect, his character Evan astral projects to the past to change traumatic events. After manipulating the past events, the future becomes worse. Evan returns to a daunting future, reminding him that meddling with the past has an adverse effect on his closest friends and family. Can we astral project to the past to fix traumatic experiences like The Butterfly Effect?

The Butterfly Effect depicts astral projection. We can move about time and space to change traumatic events in our minds. Nonetheless, I doubt there is an absolute way to go back into time to manipulate the past events to improve the future. Evan's mind suppressed his traumatic experiences to protect his sanity. Under severe stressful circumstances, the brain can mentally implode.

According to Freud, past traumatic events emerge in the mind to repeat again. Many people wish they could have avoided a traumatic event. They want so badly to erase traumatic memories that keep replaying in their minds over-and-over again. Traumatic events in childhood have a profound effect on the state of the mind. The mind attempts to put the traumatic pieces together like a puzzle. However, a person wants to forget the trauma even occurred since they are frightened and ashamed.

People remember the exact moment. Children replay conflict as molestation, abuse, arguments, and bully encounters in their mind. They can hear arguments between their parents. Adults admit that their painful memories of bullies are rather disturbing. In severe traumatic cases, the pain is so intense that victims leave their mind to escape the stress. The mind reaches a boiling point, and then it snaps into fragments. Hence, the mind shuts down like an overheating car.

The mind works overtime to protect people from going insane. Therefore, people become afraid of symbols associated with their trauma such as a dark alley, a garage, car, noises, words, and other connections that cause adrenaline to be released throughout the body. The throat closes, breathing increases, and the body goes into a fight and flight. It is a mechanism to allow the mind to absorb the traumatic experience. Such traumatic events keep replaying in the mind to form one memory. Thus, Evan astral projects to the past to understand his painful memories.

Evan experienced bad memories that hinder his future. His love interest Kayleigh means the world to him. The movie explores the effects of changing past events to improve the future. Evan can never repair the past in the way he plans beforehand - to astral project to the past to prevent these traumatic experiences from unfolding. Such traumatic experiences leave mental gaps that must be filled with memories to eliminate the pain.

In these traumatic events, we see a burning dog, a M-180 bomb exploding in a mail box, a perverted father filming home videos of young children in the basement, and Kayleigh's bully brother terrorizing the neighborhood. During real life traumatic events, a person may scream and yell until the point in which they probably have an out-of-body experience (OBE) to escape the mind from an insidious act.

Evan exhibited classic signs and symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. He is confined to a psychiatric institute, which treats the underlying condition of his PTSD. Evan astral projected to the past through using his notebook as a portal, enabling him to change the past to repair his future. We discover that The Butterfly Effect conveys that our past is best left alone.

Can we change the past like in The Butterfly Effect? Will astral time travel help us to reach the past? In my opinion, it is impossible to change past events. However, you can astral project to resolve past traumatic events in your mind. Astral projection is therapeutic to the mind. It will help you deal with painful memories in your mind. The subconscious mind communicates with the conscious mind to stay alert. Replying the traumatic events anger people. A traumatic event impairs the mind and body. An example of a person leaving their mind is depicted in Johnny Depp's character in Secret Window.

There is an element of trauma that impacts the mind. Exposing the mind to anything closely related to traumatic events create fear and shame. The Butterfly Effect is a metaphysical movie that depicts astral time travel. We can only change traumatic events in our minds. Astral projection, OBE and astral time travel enables us to explore our pain from within to improve the future. In essence, we can't astral travel to the past to eliminate painful memories.
